"Damnit!" I slipped out of my bed, peeking out the door, into the dark hallway. I paused for a moment, listening to make sure no one was awake. I crept out of my room, making my way down the hall to Carter’s room, the last room on the hall. I entered quietly.

"Carter?" I whispered softly as he opened one eye, trying to see me in the dark.

"Bad dream?" he asked. I shook my head, swallowing deep, working up the nerve to make my next move. He sat up, throwing his legs over the edge of his bed. "What's wrong?"
